  • Frequently Asked Questions

We’ve listed below answers to frequently asked questions about renting a vehicle in the area

    Travelling One Way

Q: Can I pick up a car at Brisbane Airport and then return it at a depot on the Gold Coast?
A: You sure can. Make sure you select this option at the time of your booking. Simply un-check Return to same location in the box above and enter both your preferred pickup and return locations. Popular one way routes include Brisbane to the Gold Coast and Brisbane to Noosa.

    Airport Rental Costs

Q: Is hiring at the airport more expensive than picking up a vehicle at a different depot?
A: Car rental prices are dynamic and depend on the supply and demand for vehicles at specific locations. Airport rental rates can be somewhat higher than rates at other places due to higher demand, in most cases however the difference is marginal and lower than the cost of additional transfer to/from the airport. Use our search tool to compare prices at various locations yourself.

    Sports Car Hire

Q: Are sports cars also available?
A: Some of our suppliers do provide SUVs and V6s. However, if you are looking for something special you may want to try a local company that specialises in sports car rentals as our suppliers in general do not offer so-called luxury sports vehicles.

    8-seater and Mini-van Rental

Q:I’ll be travelling with a small group. Can I rent an 8-seater?
A: Yes, 8-seaters are available from several of our providers. Due to being hugely popular especially during holiday seasons they get booked out extremely quickly before the Easter and Christmas breaks. Be sure to make your reservation as soon as possible, so you don’t miss out.

A: Our suppliers require the driver to be 21 years or older to be able to rent. A surcharge is applied to the rental rate for drivers younger than 25 years old due to insurance issues. If you’re under 25, check the exact rate with the supplier before you rent.

Renting Cars – Things to Know

There’s a few things you should keep in mind before you rent a vehicle. First of all, make sure you have the right car for your needs. If there will be several adults travelling with you, spend the extra dollar for something large enough to make the trip comfortable. Although a small car will be cheaper and more economical, weigh the costs and benefits. Popular auto hire firms such as Hertz, Avis and Thrifty usually have a wide range of vehicles available – from compact ones and family-sized station wagons to more luxury vehicles, SUVs and 4WDs. Choose what best fits your needs.

Most of our suppliers offer unlimited kilometres unless otherwise stated. On the other hand, expect insurance, GPS navigation and fuel not to be included in the price. Many companies provide only basic insurance coverage and will give you the option of reducing your excess for an additional fee. Be sure to check the details as well as terms and conditions of your rental with the provider you choose. And of course compare offers. If your travel days are flexible, try different depots or travel dates for the cheapest rates. With our comparison functionality we’re confident you’ll get the best deal available.

    Places Worth Visiting

There’s a multitude of great places in driving distance from Brisbane. Here are some ideas for a day trip:

  • Sunshine Coast – visit the beautiful beaches in Mooloolaba or Noosa. Explore the Hinterland with the Glasshouse Mountains. Worth visiting are Melanie and Montville and an exciting place to spend the day is Australia Zoo.

  • The Moreton Bay – including the Redcliffe Peninsula and Sandgate. Note: Remember that most agreements prohibit you from driving on unpaved roads and taking the vehicle to any islands. So unfortunately, islands such as Moreton or North Stradbroke are off-limits.

  • The Gold Coast – spectacular beaches in Surfers Paradise, Burleigh Heads and Coolangatta. You can easily spend a couple of days in several theme parks including Warner Brothers Movie World, Wet’n’Wild, Dreamworld and Sea World.

  • Car Hire At Brisbane Airport

Brisbane Airport is located about 12 kilometres from the city centre and has both a domestic and international terminal. All club members collecting points and rewards will be happy to know that their favourite brands have desks at the airport: Hertz, Avis, Thrifty, Budget, Redspot & Europcar.

Whether you’re on a short trip or planning a long-term journey picking up your car directly outside the arrival terminal is probably your best option, as it will save you the expense of getting a taxi to your accommodation or rental car depot. Use our search tool to compare prices of vehicles at the airport and in different locations around town

Brisbane Airport and Gold Coast Airport are two major gateways for passengers arriving in South East Queensland from around the country. Most Australian and international visitors will use the Brisbane Airport, but flying in to Coolangatta and then driving up to the city (about one hour) is also an option some travellers choose.
